Craicon Muff was privileged to be among such reporters as Irish heroine Sonia O’Sullivan today in Dublin.  It was yet another spectacle at the Spar Great Ireland Run in Dublin’s Phoenix Park! I had  a personal interest in the race as my husband was participating but pride really did kick in when I was also able to support other Muff athletes during the race.

Whilst watching the elite women coming in to finish, it was with great pride that I and my family and friends were able to cheer local school teacher, Mrs Joanne McColgan to the finish line. Finishing just behind the elite female athletes, Joanne really did an amazing run.

Following the elite men to the finish line was local man Dwain Robb. Dwain looked fresh as could be as he crossed the  line. A little way behind this was himself, Paul McCool! A good day’s running all round for Muff!

This was the 11th year of the Great Ireland Run; the fourth sponsored by Spar. Over 10,000 athletes participated today and many more spectating. A great day was had by all in the Phoenix Park.  Thousands lined the route encouraging friends and loved ones along. The sun shone and it  proved to be the perfect family day out for many.

Craicon Muff certainly enjoyed being part of the day.  An excellent job was done yet again by the race organisers. Now that it’s all over, perhaps a pint of Guinness in Dublin tonight will be in order. Or maybe even two!
