New Inishowen Radio Station ready for blast-off
Stephen Joyce, born at Whitecastle, is so impressed with the exciting new online Inishowen Live radio station, that he has backed its start-up costs. He knows things are tough in the peninsula, but hopes his sponsorship will encourage local and world wide-listeners to get together and give all the support they can. Stephen’s ‘Pride of Scotland Media’ knows how Inishowen needs a showcase online 24/7 station to help regenerate community and local businesses
“Inishowen Live†is an online radio station based in Carndonagh which will broadcast 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
It has already created a buzz of anticipation as the word gets around on social media sites.
You will be able to tune in to Inishowen Live on your PC, laptop, Iphone, Ipad, smartphone or any device that connects to the Internet.
Music
There will be music, chat, current affairs, interviews, sport, gig guides and much more. The station aims to attract a large local listenership but will also reach out around the world to the Inishowen diaspora who are keen to hear voices and news from home.
The station was started by an independent team of dedicated volunteers who saw the need for a radio service in Inishowen and decided to seize the initiative.
The “back room committee†of Hazel McIntyre and Mario MacBlain approached Stephen Joyce of Pride of Scotland Media for his guidance and support. His business acumen and experience are a great asset to the radio station. Pride of Scotland’s sponsorship is reflected in Inishowen Live’s slogan: Pride of the Peninsula.
Opportunity
However the station will be looking for local sponsors and advertisers, and offering a global subscription service. It will give local businesses an opportunity to promote themselves to the world at very reasonable rates. All money raised will help with the running costs of the station – all the team are volunteers, there is no public funding and nobody is drawing a wage.
The lineup includes some well-known Inishowen radio voices as well as some enthusiastic newcomers. The Chairperson of Inishowen Live is Marianne Ashcroft, the secretary is Elaine McDaid and Treasurer is Marjorie Dinan and the committee also includes Eddie Dee, Ciaran Keogh and a strong technical team of Peter and Steven Homer and the Dance Anthems crew.
Friday
Inishowen Live will have a fresh new outlook, completely independent of any previous structures and will put Inishowen and its worldwide diaspora back on the media map. We welcome our friends from the North of Ireland and around the world. This is radio for the 21st Century with an Inishowen community ethos.
The station’s website will be live on Friday 8th March – in the meantime check Inishowen Live on Facebook and @InishowenLive on Twitter for regular updates.
