It looks to be a cracking line-up for the 2nd heat of the Songwriter Contest at the Castle Inn on Friday at 10pm.

We have 3 acts from Derry, one from The Downings, one from Muff and several local acts.

Here’s the line-up

DeadPool

A heavy metal band who have taken Derry by storm. THis is their first performance in the contest.

String Fellas

A duo from Derry who have played at Rosatos, Rawdons, the Sean To and probably other places too.

Rosie Carney

A 15-year-old of very high promise from The Downings Donegal who already has a manager and is just back from the US. Has already gigged in the US and has dates in London. My son Robbie and a local journalist love her song.

Spring Tides

It will also cause some excitement that Spring Tides songwriter James O’Donnell will come along and perform a couple of his songs possibly in conjunction with Sean McGranaghan. That will be a nice treat for fans of the now defunct Spring Tides.

Jessica Harkin

She was picked out by Tony Bramwell as a good young talent last year and writes some great songs. She’ll be accompanied by her mother Gina who will also perform one fo her brother Conal’s songs.

Micky McCarron

Micky McCarron from Muff, cousin of Karl McCarron who played in the first heat will also play.

Danny Doherty

Danny Doherty from Muff said he will come again if he is not working. he got two songs through form the first heat. Danny’s a maybe rather than a definite as he may not be able to get off work.

Laura Bonner

Young Laura Bonner, who won the Talent Contest at Rawdons, and who performed so admirably in the first heat is confirmed as coming again.

Martin Moir

Martin Moir is confirmed too. He is a stalwart of these contest and got a good song through in the last heat.

Ciaran Keogh

There’s a rumour that the Keoster, Ciaran Keogh, might turn up and sing a song in that great booming masculine voice of his.
